The primary focus of the Housekeeper is the thorough cleaning and organization of the home. Although the demands of the housekeeper will vary daily, the objective of an immaculate, functioning, and properly organized home is unchanging. The home must be kept as clean as possible and in a state of readiness for the owner and guests at all times. Housekeepers are expected to work well alone or with others, and should respond well to direction from employers and House Manager. In addition to tasks associated with general cleaning, the responsibilities for the Housekeeper position also include laundry, ironing, shopping, errands, and at times communicating with vendors. Occasionally, the housekeeper may assist cook with light food preparation.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The housekeeper is responsible for all aspects of cleaning house including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, polishing, laundering, stocking, and organizing. Although some areas of the home require daily care (bedrooms, baths, & kitchen) all areas should be routinely checked and cleaned including the garage and outdoor decks. A familiarity with cleaning techniques and cleaning products is essential in order to complete the work necessary. The housekeeper(s) must be able to arrive and assess the needs of the house daily, and then move forward to complete the work to meet the objective of a thoroughly cleaned and organized home. Kitchen, laundry, cleaning, bathroom products, bedding, and house wares should be stocked appropriately and organized routinely.
- Experience in all aspects of household cleaning necessary
- Organizational skills are necessary for all areas of the house for easy use and access
- Attention to detail and being self motivated is important
- Follows closely instructions from the employers and House Manager
- Must be physically able to perform housework activities daily
